All ages welcome
COG KIDS SHARK TOOTH & FOSSIL HUNT
Join COG Kids on an adventure at Flag Ponds Nature Park in Calvert County; we will be hunting for shark teeth and other miocene era fossils along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay! The beaches of Flag Ponds Nature Park are known for their bounty of these prehistoric treasures.
Don't forget your sunscreen and water bottle! If you'd like, pack a picnic lunch and a towel (and maybe some dry clothes for your wee ones, just in case they can't resist getting wet). It will be a great day exploring another aspect of our Chesapeake!
The cost is $6 per vehicle.
Location: Flag Ponds Nature Park, Calvert County
We will meet inside the building that is located on the right side of the parking lot, nearest the paved trail, then walk to the beach together. Note that the walk to the beach is paved and then groomed dirt on a slight hill. It's about a 5 minute walk from the parking area to the beach.
Directions (from areas north):
- Take ROUTE 301 South to ROUTE 4 South.
- Just 10 miles south of Prince Frederick, look for the sign along ROUTE 4 & turn LEFT onto Flag Ponds Parkway.
- Flag Ponds Parkway is 3 miles south of the traffic light at Calvert Beach/Ball Rd.
Please RSVP by July 16 to firstname.lastname@example.org with the number in your party and children's ages.
Note: COG Kids events require that parents stay with their children at all times. No childcare is ever provided. Instead, we encourage grown-ups to come prepared to make a memory with their child(ren).
