We have recently joined Children and Nature's social network and are excited to share news with you about our program. College of the Atlantic's Family Nature camp started in the summer of 1992 and has been bringing families together for a learning vacation on beautiful Mount Desert Island every since.
College of the Atlantic’s Family Nature Camp offers families a unique opportunity to engage with nature and each other in a memorable, meaningful way. Here, families experience hands-on the unparalleled majesty of coastal Maine and Acadia National Park. Featured on Good Morning America and ranked among the top five family camps in the U.S. by Disney's Family Fun Magazine, at Family Nature Camp, children and adults alike delight in the wonder and adventure of the outdoors with the help of experienced teachers and naturalists.
Some of the featured field trips include: an exploration of beaver habitats and tide pools, hiking the trails and beaches of Acadia National Park, early morning bird walks, assembling the bones of a minke whale skeleton, an evening with Tony Sohns - the "Bug Man," and a fascinating program on bats. A highlight of the week is a boat trip on Diver Ed's Starfish Enterprise.
Optional Whale Watch and Naturalist Cruises are also part of the Family Nature Camp program.
