IditaNature is just around the corner - it starts in just 3 days...on Saturday, March 2nd, just like the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race! Challenge your kids, family, friends, or students to spend as many minutes outside as the Iditarod is long in 1,150 minutes or 17+ hours over two weeks. If they meet the challenge, the reward can be whatever you dream up. Prizes of outdoor gear or doing something fun together in nature: go out for ice cream, ski a trail and wind up with hot chocolate, go on a photo safari at sunset, visit a local sled dog kennel, build a fort in the yard, go camping, have a picnic...the possibilities are endless! Hi Suz! My daughter Eryn has chalked up 9.5 hrs outside so far; I'm up to 9 hrs. If she meets the challenge, she'll get a "gift certificate" (from me) for fun stuff from Acorn Naturalists and a secret prize from her school PE teachers. I'm pretty sure she'll earn it. I've never been along the Iditarod Trail during the race before, but hope to take Eryn to McGrath next March to stay with friends and watch the mushers go through. Out there in Bush Alaska we'd probably meet the IditaNature Challenge in 3 days! Thanks for sharing and encouraging others to try this!!

Hi Carmen! Thank you so much for sharing the Iditanature Challenge! My family has always been especially excited by the Idatarod race. (It's a dream of my daughter's to participate one day.) And we are up for the challenge. Keep us posted on how you're doing. I'll encourage others to do the same.
