National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education
Bora Simmons is the founding director of the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education. The Project has drawn on the insights of literally thousands of educators across the United States and around the world to craft guidelines for top-quality environmental education. She has been actively involved in environmental education research, evaluation and teacher education for over thirty years. She taught pre-service elementary and secondary education, and environmental education at Northern Illinois University for twenty years, was chair of the NAAEE’s writing team for the NCATE Standards for the Initial Preparation of Environmental Educators, served as the president of the North American Association for Environmental, and served as an executive editor of the Journal of Environmental Education.
